Anybody has experience with extension of 6 months stay with DTV without leaving Thailand?
How is the process? Same as normal visa extension and cost or more complicated?
Thank you very much
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the process and experience of extending a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) for an additional 6 months while remaining in Thailand. Many participants advise against attempting to extend the DTV visa inside Thailand due to complications, recommending instead to exit Thailand (a 'border run') and re-enter to obtain a new 180-day stamp. Some users detail their personal experiences, indicating that various immigration offices have differing policies, and highlight the importance of having updated documents. Overall, the consensus suggests that leaving Thailand may be a simpler and more reliable option compared to the extension procedure.

StunningDeer1930 and submit each and every document required for the DTV visa and more questions from the local Thai Immigration Officers if they ask. They REALLY don't want to do it inside Thailand.
I tried once including proof that I was below 500k because of my expensive soft power activity ( medical treatment). He said while he totally understood my situation abd he finds it stupid himself, he recommended leaving and re-entering like everyone in this group suggests. So even officials in chengwattana agree. A trip to Laos and back even need less time than travel from sukhumvit to immigration and back lol. If you book through agoda, flights are pretty cheap. Some countries also don’t need a visa for laos
SunnyOctopus4523 Thank You for your helpful report 👍
Congratulations 👏👏👏
PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.
That's what you should do... print it out.
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
Most won’t try because they say it’s complicated (or they don’t have updated documents). If you’re used to the usual Non-Immigrant extensions, you can give it a try. The key is to find an immigration officer willing to go through it with you. You’ll need a full set of updated documents (from your application) and possibly additional ones if required.
