I have student visa one year and it will finish 21 February, the school (pro language) in Pattaya said that government changed the rules and now it’s impossible to apply for second year visa, I didn’t get explanation why.. is there someone else with similar experience or maybe I should try another school?

Update - i went to another school today (third school i tried) and they said can do it. Just for the record im not exploiting this visa I really go school every class and i have tons of paperwork from the classes, I learned i think 50% of thai language till now.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user with a one-year student visa is confused about applying for a second-year visa since their school claimed it was no longer possible due to government rule changes. After consulting another school, they found it could be done, suggesting the initial school's information was incorrect. The community affirmed that the possibility of extending an ED visa depends on the specific school procedures rather than a formal rule change.

Now that the O/P knows there is no rule change and it is totally up to the specific school on whether they can get a new ED visa to study longer, I think we're done.

However I will add this;

Just an additional bit of news;

This is how it works in BANGKOK

-you enroll in a school

-you pay the tuition

-you get the paperwork

-you go to a thai consulate & get the 90 day ED visa

-when that 90 days is running out you get paperwork

-you go to the immigration office and you get a 30 day extension :O

-during that 30 days you go to the MOE and get tested

-then you get paperwork from them so you can get a 60 day extension TWO more times.

FWIW: ALL extensions of stays are 1900 baht. no matter the time they're issued for.

Then you're done with beginniner & intermediate thai

IF you want to continue studying you get more paperwork from the school and the MOE, you go to a thai consulate again to get a new 90 day ED visa which you can extend for 6 months (giving you 9 months of stay out of that visa). Then you're done with thai.

Good luck to the O/P
