Hi. My 6 month EDU visa ends Aug 20 (muay thai.) I'd like to stay at least 3 more months. Can I extend it or do I need to leave Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about extending their 6-month EDU visa for another three months, which expires on August 20. The response emphasized that the school responsible for the original visa issue holds the authority to facilitate any extension. If extension is not possible, one suggestion involves traveling to Cambodia to apply for an eVisa and subsequently obtaining a 30-day extension in Thailand.

Just curious, what school was able to get you a 6mo ed visa?
Does your home country Canada have Thai eVisa? If so, you can apply for one there (online only) and use that one for a border bounce with a neighbor country. Or covid extension as suggested.
Yes it does. So I physically don't have to be in Canada, right? Hypothetically, can I apply while I'm in Thailand and when I get it just go to Cambodia and come back to Thailand with the e-visa?
EDIT: I just tried on the e-visa application system. It seems I have to go to the embassy if I am in Cambodia... and it seems I can't apply while in Thailand
That’s what I would attempt rather than having to physically visit a consulate in a neighbor country, yes. But again: covid extension might be the easier fix here.
This sounds like the best option. I'll get head to the local Thai embassy as soon as I get to the other country. Do you have any recommendations which country(s) has a lenient/friendly Thai embassy that I should consider?
Only your school can answer that question. They are the ones who provided you with the visa in the first place, and they are the ones who can provide you the paperwork to extend it.
yeah they said they can't. So I have to leave. Does just going to Cambodia for 5 days, applying for evisa when I'm there and do a 30 day extension back in TH make sense?
