bit of a silly one I think, and I likely already know the answer but just incase.

is there a way to apply for Thai visa from the UK without having flight booked at all (entry not onward) I'd just like to have the paper work done then hopefully find a good deal as and when the timing is right and pull the trigger. it seems unlikely tho

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to apply for a Thai visa from the UK without having a flight booked. The Thai embassy in the UK does not require a flight ticket when applying for a visa. You can apply for a Non-O visa online via the e-visa portal, where you only need to provide an inbound flight number, which does not have to be the actual flight you take. For tourist purposes, British passport holders can enter Thailand visa-exempt for up to 60 days.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

you are correct, British passpoprt holders not residents

The eVisa system does not require to upload any flight tickets as proof anymore. It just asks for a (any) inbound flight number. I almost never arrived on that very flight I mentioned in the visa application.

You don't need a visa from you country Thai embassy waste of time and money if you are coming as a tourist. Just arrive in Thailand and you get a 60 day stamp if you want to stay another 30 days just apply at immigration where your stay and cost is 1900 bht. So just keep looking for your cheap flight and get yourself over here.

Disagree, a 90 days Non O visa gives you 90 days without any extension in Thailand at £ 60.

If you enter on a 60 days visa exemption you’ll need to pay £ 43 for a 30 days extension and you’ll also need to provided an onward ticket out within 60 days even though you’re going to apply for an extension later. And you’ll don’t need to use or waist any time during your holiday to apply for an extension at the immigration.

but how does that work if he has no ticket ?? He wants to wait until the prices are better

@David *******
Then he has to time it a little bit, a Non O visa is valid for 90 days after it’s issued and gives you 90 days when you enter (within 90 days) without any mandatory flight ticket requirements.

l have always done visa on arrival as a tourist always one way ticket and did my extension. I was the same watch for promo flights or packages. Maybe l was lucky 🤞

@David *******
yes, onwards ticket within 60 days is rarely checked at the immigration, but your airline might require it and they control this from time to time and you’ll never know when.

You can apply for a Non O visa without uploading any flight ticket in the e-visa portal. You’ll need to specify some days for your trip, but this is not strict and your visa is valid for 90 days after it’s issued.

cheers. last time I got part way through it wouldn't let me complete with with having flight details. I'll investigate again.

@Ben **********
You can just fill in some flight details in the e-visa portal, but flight tickets are not formally required for a Non O visa as you see on the website from the Thai embassy in London.

There's not really any need if you're in the UK. The embassy there issues visas in 2-3 working days.

You also don't say which visa you want to apply for. If you have a British passport you'll get 60 days without a visa, and can apply for a 30 day extension.
