I am a Canadian currently in Kuala lumpur looking to apply for the 60 day visa. I have been in Thailand twice this year only on 30 day visit and would like to return December 2023. I was told by a friend that I can apply for a 60 days visa in Kula Lumpur is this true..as I thought I had to apply for this in my own home country of Canada. Please share any helpful advice and tips thankyou

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian currently in Kuala Lumpur can indeed apply for a 60-day Thai visa there, despite the common misconception that this application must be done in Canada. It's advisable to check the Thai embassy's website for specific requirements and availability of appointments. Some users suggest that applying in Penang might be more efficient as it typically allows walk-ins, while applying in Kuala Lumpur requires appointments for both submission and collection of the visa.

KL can be tricky because of the need for an appointment to submit your application AND an appointment to collect.

Penang may be a better option as it’s walk-in with no appointment needed. You apply in the morning of day one and collect in afternoon of day two (weekends excepted).

They open at 9am but get there early as there’s often long queues by then.

I notice they have appointment coming up so that's good ..do you know if this is even a possibility to apply for the 60 day visa if I am not inside my home country this is the main thing I am trying to confrim before I male the appointment ..Also what about the turn around time if I apply in Kl I'm here so would rather apply Herr than to book another flight to Penang ..the Thai website is not clear ...thankyou

Yes you can apply in KL. go to the page with the list of requirements for a tourist (TR) visa and print off the checklist. Tick off all the items when you have them. They will want to see the completed checklist before allowing you in at your appointment time.

Usually it’s a morning of day one to apply then afternoon of day two to collect. You need appointments for both.

You can absolutely apply in KL. Or Penang. Who wants to go to Canada if they can avoid it?!?

Check the website of the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur and see if you meet the requirements and if they have any appointments available. If so then you can apply.
