Hey everyone πŸ‘‹

Im a US citizen, currently in Indonesia. I accepted a job offer in Bangkok, I will come to Thailand in a couple days

My question is in regards to spouse visas. My spouse is Indonesian, I've asked my employer and the embassy and searched online but still havent found anything concrete

If I have a job in Thailand, and they provide me a visa and work permit, am I then able to apply for a spouse visa for my Indonesian wife (she isnt working)?

Thanks for any info 🀝

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual, a US citizen moving to Thailand for work, inquired about obtaining a spouse visa for their Indonesian wife. Responses confirmed that she could apply for a Non-O Family visa, initially valid for 90 days, with the possibility of annual extensions. It's important to have the employer's support in this process, including necessary documents like the marriage certificate and work permit. Additionally, options such as a tourist visa or the DTV visa were also mentioned.

Yes. But normally your employer arranges all those things.

I thought your employer should include her on the visa application as your partner...

Permitted to remain with you for the duration of the work Permit but with no rights to work..

You should clarify that with your employer

You need the support of your employer to get the dependents visa so that's where you start. You also need copies of your work permit and so on and a certified copy of your marriage certificate

You will need to get her a dependant visa, renewable each year. The company should help you with this, otherwise you will need to visit immigration or find an agent.

Yes. Your spouse can get a Non-O Family visa. That is valid initially for 90 days. She can then also extend her stay yearly for another year at a time with immigration in Thailand - similar to how you yourself will do it as the one with the work visa.

She can then even get a work permit herself, if she so desires.

She can get visa exemption (60 days) or tourists visa. Another choice is DTV visa
