TLDR : Answer Summary
A user living in Thailand for over six years seeks advice on visa options after returning to Australia for medical treatment, noting that their retirement visa will expire in February. Several commenters suggest applying for a new NON-O visa in Australia or entering Thailand as a tourist before starting the visa process through an agent in Thailand.

If needed enter as a tourist then start the process with agent.

You have to be physically in the country to get an extension. Do as
@Gra***
has suggested and start again with a new non-O from Australia
