TLDR : Answer Summary
To retire in Thailand as an Australian citizen, you generally need to obtain a Non-Immigrant O visa, which has specific financial requirements such as having 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account or proving a monthly income of at least 65,000 THB. It's recommended to research visa details on official Thai embassy websites and consider consulting a visa agent for assistance. Expat individuals have also discussed the importance of being aware of tax implications back home and shared their personal experiences regarding the application process and requirements.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
You need to stop using the f word three times every sentence and no thongs and Bintang singlets.

I got enough money in my bank account but l thought they ask a million questions and check your history sounds easier than l thought
it’s fine until something goes wrong, agents grease wheels at immig and your passport leaves your control, better and safer to research and do it yourself…….once your are tied to an agent you are trapped in the process………there are some terrible stories over people being impacted by dodgy agents and visas (education visa being a case in point)
There are many people that are not IT literate... but there is no need for your rudeness which shows how ignorant you are more than the OP. !

Easy must be 50 years old and place 800.000 bath in Thai bank account. Just come to Thailand and use a visa agent, you can do it yourself but can be a nightmare, the chicken and the egg fable

Just go onto your nearest Thai Embassy website ! It's all there in English believe it or not !
Best to check with Thai Immigration in the relevant area you will be living in, as different areas have their own interpretation of rules. Thai Embassy Canberra give an approximate idea

There is a ton of information on the internet. This is what I did ; I obtained a Non Immigrant O visa online at the Thai embassy in Canberra ACT. I was not asked for any proof of flights or accommodation. I did enter the hotel and the private residence where I would be staying and flight number. Proof of finances in your home bank. Licence for proof I'm still in Australia. Plus passport photo and passport page. Once in Thailand immigration for a resident certificate, bank to open an account. Deposit 800,000 . It hasn't been difficult, but in saying that I did a lot of research first. Knowledge is power.

I have read there are tax implications back home when you do too. Don’t forget to look into this too.
the problem is, much is inaccurate or outdated at best.

If you're of reasonable intelligence it doesnt take much to work out whats real and what isn't. Plenty of legal pages available to first read then have a pile of questions for this group. But to dump a big question like yours to a group and expect your perfect answer is asking a lot. 🙂
