TLDR : Answer Summary
A user plans to travel to Thailand on February 1st for a retirement visa and seeks advice on the number of blank pages required in their passport. Comments suggest options like renewing the passport for more pages, the visa application process, ensuring enough pages for future visas, and the importance of obtaining the non-immigrant O visa before arrival.

You can get expedited service if you’re within a certain timeframe

I'm in Portland, Oregon and the website says expedited service takes three to five weeks. I remember it being a lot faster than that

Get the non imm O evisa before you arrive. Doesnt take up any pages. Half a page will do for the yearly extention of stay.

Surprised your passport is in date. I'd have gotten a new one not sure but if you don't get the visa you want most of the other ones require you to leave and come back every 3 months. Day trip to Cambodia 3 times a year and 1 over night stay in Laos once a year. Good luck have fun

Why not just get a new passport? A fresh 10 year passport will have plenty of pages for any visas you might want to have in the future.

Getting a passport while you're overseas is much more expensive and takes other longer generally.

Some passports these days are taking one month to 3 months to get while overseas. Which is 4-6 times longer than while at home.

Darn it. I'm just looking at the website now and even expedited passport services is 3 to 5 weeks here. So I don't even think I could get a new passport here in time.
