TLDR : Answer Summary
If you forgot to apply for a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand, your Non-O visa extension is considered canceled, and you will have to start the process over with a new Non-O visa and obtain a new extension upon returning. You cannot apply for a re-entry permit at the airport after having exited Thailand.

Or buy at least a single re entry directly after your extension. In most cases its only 30 minutes extra at the immigration. I never leave the immigration office withour a valid re-entry permit.

Anytime. Singe re-entry permit is 1000 baht. Multiple is 3800 baht.

Mine expired because I couldn't get back in time so I had to get a new non-o in my home country. When I made a new year extension in Udon Thani they did it in 20 minutes.

David Broadfoot I’m talking about getting turned down for thai health insurance because you have pre-existing health conditions, or, are overweight.

Or, if you already have international health insurance with a better plan or company.

David Broadfoot I know that's possible now but makes no sense to me.

Easier to just get it before travel.

Less stamps too.

Are you sure you understand all the advantages of getting one inside Thailand?

IF you had a year long "extension of stay" that you got from the immigration office and forgot to get a re-entry permit BEFORE you stamped out and left the country, you're done and you cancelled that extension when you exited the country.

You have to start all over again with a new Non-O visa, then a new yearly extension.

I'd bet you dont have ANY non-o VISA at all (because you can't get a year long Non-O inside the country).

IF you have been going to the immigration office and pay 1900baht you were getting "extension of stay" stamps <- READ the current stamp in your passprot and I think you'll see it says "extension of stay permitted until" and have a date.

As I said, IF you were on an extension of stay and stamped out without buying the re-entry permti BEFORE you left, you're done, and will start all over from zero

yes correct extension 1900 baht

@Ma***
then when you stamped out you lost it.

There is no way to get it back after the fact, you needed to have bought a re-entry permit BEFORE you left the country to keep the current extension "alive" so you could come back in on it

Nope. Your extension (visa) is gone. You'll need to start over.
