Can I apply for a new passport while visiting South Africa and still re-enter Thailand with my old passport's visa?

Hey everybody,

I just want to know if anyone has gone back to SA to visit and applied for a new passport while home? Will re-entry be an issue as my current visa and extension of stay will be in my 'old' passport?

Thanks in advance πŸ˜„

TLDR : Answer Summary
The main concern here is whether re-entry to Thailand will be affected when applying for a new passport in South Africa. The consensus from the community is that as long as you have purchased a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand and can present both the old and new passports upon arrival, you should be able to re-enter without issues. It's important to also mention the visa details from the old passport during entry.

Re-Entry will only be an issue if you did not buy the re-entry permit before you left. You show both passports on arrival.

If you have both passport upon arrival, present both to the immigration and he will stamp entry in the new passport, and mention the page number where your valid visa is in the old passport. That’s how mine was done
