TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the possibility of a Russian citizen obtaining a multi-entry Non-O (marriage) visa in Savannakhet without providing proof of funds. Responses indicated that various visa companies suggested that proof of funds is typically required for Russian applicants due to existing prejudices and regulations. Some advice included consulting a local consulate and reaching out to visa agents in other areas like Pattaya for assistance. Additionally, it was outlined that necessary documents for a Non-O visa include a marriage license, copies of the wife's ID, and other identification, which could facilitate the initial visa application but might necessitate funds in a Thai bank for future extensions.

He needs copies of the marriage license, and a the marriage registration document, a copy of his Thai wife's ID card, front and back, and a copy of the house book she is listed in (but not at all Thai embassies). These together with copies of his passport pages, and his passport photo, should get him a 90 day type O visa to enter Thailand. This is designed to give him time to get his Thai bank account, and get bt400,000 deposited in it, and seasoned for two months minimum before he applies for the one year extension. Be aware that after about a year of doing this, and never returning to Russia or getting the one year extension, the visa could be refused.

Not sure. This friend might have to either call up the Savannakhet consulate or if that doesn't work, simply go there and see for himself.

I think there is a lot of prejudice against Russians worldwide and it’s made more evident when the media keeps saying Russians are carrying bags of money out of the country … so everyone wants a slice .

Try a Visa agent in Pattaya there’s lots who will help and no strings attached

Good Luck 🙏

I'm Canadian, no need. Russian? Not sure. But you did a good thing by asking because a lot of visa agents might lie so you can become a customer. It would not surprise me that Russians need proof of funds, for obv reasons. I'm sure some here knows.
