When applying for extension based on marriage I know I can apply and get 30d under consideration. I usually apply early but my question is this:
Is it ok to apply one week before expiration of current extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a visa extension based on marriage up until the last day of your current extension. The 'under consideration' period is counted as part of your new extension, so you do not lose any time. However, it is generally recommended to apply 2 to 3 working days before your current extension expires for optimal results.

they prefer 2 to 3 days working days before the day of extension expires, a small IO told me, back then - I was 10 days early once, and got only 14 days of extension, also told do a revisit here for your 1-year extension, as said above time

You can apply up until the last day.
The under consideration is part of your new extension already so you're not gaining or losing any time.
your new one year extension starts on the day your old extension ends, not on the day your 30 day under consideration stamp ends. You don't gain any extra days by applying at the end of your extension.
