Hi! Im on a non-o volunteer visa that runs out December 31st. My visa is registered in Mae Hong Son but I am planning on moving to Chiang Mai. I want to do the 60 day COVID extension and know that sometimes make you come back to the office to get re-stamped so Im wondering if I can register my new place in CM (new TM30) and get the extension there or if I need to do it in Mae Hong Son. CM would be easier so I dont need to go back and forth to Mae Hong Son. My organization is helping but they are also not sure.

Also, and I read the TM30 post but am still confused, I plan on traveling but home-basing in CM, do I need to fill out a new TM30 everywhere I go or is it OK to just have my CM address registered? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is asking about applying for a COVID extension on their Non-O volunteer visa, which is currently registered in Mae Hong Son, while they are planning to move to Chiang Mai. They want to know if they can register their new residence in Chiang Mai and obtain the extension there, along with clarifications on the TM30 registration process while traveling. Comments provide guidance on the steps needed to cancel the current extension and re-register in Chiang Mai.

I remember talking to you. Your volunteer visa IS from a real, valid volunteer organization that you used to work for.

For you to be able to apply for Covid extension in CM, follow the steps.

1. get your current extension canceled at the Mae Hong Son Immigration office. You need a letter from your organization and a receipt of WP cancellation from the labor office. Cancellation of WP and extension can be done in advance.

2. Get your TM30 in CM. TM30 is supposed to be done by the landlord/owner.

(2.5 better to check the whole requirements for Covid extension from Non-O volunteer in CM in advance)

3. Go to the CM immigration office to apply for a Covid extension near your extension expiry date.

If you travel inside Thailand, the landlord/owner/manager of the place you stay is supposed to register your TM30.

I believe CM requires you to register a new TM30 only when you are back from abroad. But to be sure, ask CM local group.

If Mae Hong Son allows and your organization provides the termination letter in advance stating you will finish on xx date, you can apply for cancelation in advance, then move to CM, get TM30 from your landlord (or get IO together to register TM30), then apply for Covid extension.

right, unless you can travel to CM in reasonable time ;)

I talked to CM immigration today and they said I can cancel my visa/work permit in CM with a letter from the org saying they will cancel at___ date. I tried to make sure I can do this in CM and not have to go to MHS for any reason but I think some things got lost in translation. Does this make sense like have you seen similar situations? Sorry and thanks!

ok thanks so much! I can do the TM30 then when move and apply for the extension closer to the end date, if they cannot cancel it in advance I have to do everything in Mae Hong Son and then move to cm after yes

thanks! If I did this though I would have to get back to cm and register my TM30 all in one day yes? So at that point I should just get the extension in Mae Hong Son? Or if I get it done in advance then I could come to cm and get my extension on the day that my org specified me ending?
