TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to obtain a single Schengen visa to travel in most EU countries. The Schengen visa allows travel between Schengen Area countries, which includes most EU nations plus a few others like Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland. Note that your wife, holding a Thai passport, will also need to apply for a Schengen visa, and the application should be made to the embassy of the main destination country or the one where she plans to stay the longest.
Yeah with a Schengen visa you can travel all EU countries (except Cyprus) Switzerland, Norway and Island are also Schengen countries. For UK you need to apply for separate visa.

Almost. It's called a Schengen visa and you'd get more accurate answers if you ask in a Schengen group.
The Shengen visa comprises 29 countries including 25 EU member states and 4 non EU countries. Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemborg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania,Slovakia, Spain, Sweden. Non EU countries Iceland, Liechenstien, Norway and Sweden. Also by extension of fact Vatican City, Monaco & San Marino. Thais get visa free entry to Turkey only one i can see being a problem is Andorra but thats not EU. Think that will cover the writer for a Euro trip
EU and Schengen are slightly different. There's no "EU" visa. The OP just needs to ensure all countries he intends to visit are covered by the Schengen Visa
Didn't realise you were the type to go into snowflake meltdown. The OP asked for EU. I simply pointed out there's a difference between EU and Schengen. Is that correct or not?
