What are the visa options for my family if my wife applies for a DTV visa to move to Thailand?

Hi all, please excuse me if this isn’t the best question. I am doing my research into visas as my wife really wants to move to Thailand. We are US citizens. She works remotely and I believe would apply for the DVT visa. What would I do in regards to a visa or our two kids? If there is some reference material I missed somewhere, I apologize, please point me in the right direction. Thank you all so much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US family considering a move to Thailand can explore visa options related to the Digital Nomad Visa (DVT). The wife can apply for the DVT, and the husband and children can apply as dependents. It's crucial that the wife applies first; once her application is approved, the family can then apply for dependent DVT visas. There are also education visas available for children if they will attend school in Thailand. Additionally, potential applicants should investigate the costs of schooling in the area.

I think you need to check out prices of schools before you make any plans. It's very expensive.

You didn’t mention whether or not you have visited Thailand and stayed here for any length of time. Living here is different than vacationing here. Adjusting to the climate takes time. Sorry to go off on a tangent from what you asked about.

She would have to apply first and after approval any spouse/ dependents apply separately per the official Thai e-visa website

Look at the DTV group.

She applies as the digital nomad.

After she is accepted, you and the kids apply as dependents.

Assuming the kids are still young, they just go on the back of your wife's DTV as dependants (your wife submits an application for the DTV, once accepted you can apply for dependant DTV visa, if they will be going to school here you also have the option of Education Visas for them which the school would sort out for you.

ok thank you. And with that visa if I wanted to work, my option is essentially remote work from back in my home country, correct?

@Thom *******
It's the same for Volunteering, not allowed in Country if you have a DVT. 🙏

remote work only. Can't work for any thai entity

yes. If you wanted to work in Thailand you'd need to find an employer and change to a work visa because the DTV is work prohibited in Thailand.
