Hi Guys! If I put my child into a private school in Thailand, I understand that 1 of the parents can get a dependent visa when the child get a student visa, what about the other parent? Can one Piggyback another dependent visa from the other parent based on marriage? or can they try to submit 2 application for 1 child?

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, generally, when a child receives a student visa (O or ED visa), only one parent is eligible for a dependent visa. The other parent cannot piggyback off the first parent's dependent visa based solely on marriage, as each child corresponds to one visa/extension. Parents cannot submit two applications for one child’s visa; thus, only one parent can apply as a dependent.

Bringing children to Thailand in an attempt to gain long stay visas seems the new fad just lately.

Expect a review of ED visa qualifications very soon.

Other than that I can only assume your bringing children here for the renown high standards of Education and teachers Thai schools offer.

Fact is, most expats here with children move out of the country ASAP once they have children of junior school age in order to further there Education, not impede it.
