My husband has Non-O visa based on supporting his Thai wife. Should he decide to work in Thailand. Can he apply for work permit on his existing visa or is he required to change to Non-B visa first?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Your husband can apply for a work permit on his existing Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai citizen. There is no necessity to switch to a Non-B visa for work purposes in Thailand.

I have a Non-O based on marriage and hold a work permit as well. No need for Non-B.

B stands for business. O is other. My O is based on marriage to a Thai National. I believe there are 9 different visa types for Thailand if I’m not mistaken.

Nope, there is no requirement that your husband who is on a Non-O visa/extension based on marriage to a thai get a non-b visa to work here. he can hold a work permit on the visa/extension he has now.
