TLDR : Answer Summary
A retired Swedish citizen can enter Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption. To obtain a longer visa, they would need to apply for a Non-O or Non-OA visa, ideally starting the application process in Sweden. The necessary documents include proof of income, a police clearance, and health insurance, but the income must meet the minimum requirement of 65,000 THB per month, which could be an issue if the pension translates to less than that in Thai Baht. Applying for a retirement visa is typically handled at the immigration office in Thailand rather than through a Swedish consulate.

There’s no official requirement for a Non O-A visa at the website in Stockholm, but just as you know this is the requirements her in your neighbour country Norway. The financial requirements are the same as if you apply for a Non O at home or in Thailand.

First off you're confusing requirements to get a visa from a thai consulate in your country before you come here with the requirements to get a visa issued at the immigration office inside the country. They are completely different, you do not need back ground check, you do not need insurance proof.

Also you cannot get a 7 month visa 😕 Sadly (unless I did the conversion wrong)

SEK is not 65k baht a month so you would have to bank 800k baht in a thai bank account in your name only to get the visa issued here. 🙁

GO to the Chiang Mai Immigration office and get the requirements for the "retirement visa". s

You don't do anything at the swedish consulate in C/M you get visas for thailand at the immigration office.

I think though with the financials you mentioned you will not be able to meet the 65K baht a month requirement if using income from abroad.

You can also come on a 30 days visa exemption and apply for a Non O at the immigration in Cang Mai. You’ll need at least three weeks. Your Swedish embassy still offers to give you an affidavit letter to confirm your income.

Alternatively you can apply for a 90 days Non O at home before you leave and an extension of stay in Chang Mai also with a letter from your embassy.

One little issue, your pension is

sek a month which gives 63,800 thb. I assume this is your net pension. The requirements are minimum 65K a month, so this could be a problem if they use your net income. Though some embassies confirm your monthly income before tax. Then you’ll need funds as mentioned or alternatively use a six months METV, also mentioned.
