Hi.

Couple of questions,,,

1. How long before arrival in Thailand is it ok to apply for a non-o retierment visa? Can I apply 10-11 weeks before arrival?

(want good time to fix a few things before I go)

2. I read some place that the 65k a month confirmation from the embassy dont work for the 1st 1year extension. Does this apply no matter what country you are from or just some countries?

(Btw, Im norwegian)

3.I have been in Thailand 2 times already this year on 30 visa exempt. One I stayed 19 days, the other 28 days. Will this be an issue to enter again with a propper visa?

🤔

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has several questions regarding the Non-O retirement visa for Thailand, including how far in advance they can apply, issues with income certification from the Norwegian embassy, and concerns over previous visa-exempt stays affecting future entries. Responses clarify that applications can be made 1.5 to 2 months before arrival, income confirmation depends on the embassy's policies, and previous stays on a visa exemption won't affect entry as long as arriving with the proper visa.

Our Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok still offers to provide you an affidavit letter to confirm your income if you can meet the financial requirements of 65K baht a month (

norske kroner). You therefore don’t need to prove funds or income in any other way. Just contact them by email provide the required information (skatteoppgjør) and pay a fee (Jeg tror det er rundt 280 kr) and they will email it to you.

1) A single entry visa to Thailand is valid for 90 days from the day it is issued. So you can apply any time from 90 days before until about 2 weeks before your trip.

Best is around 1.5-2 months to give yourself leeway on both sides in case you want to leave earlier or later than originally planned.

2) It all depends on your embassy inside of Thailand. If you are from a country whose embassy will provide income certification, then you can use this income certificate for your first extension rather than the banked money method. If your embassy will not provide this service (many no longer do, but I don't know about Norway) then you can ONLY use the money in the bank method for your first extension.

3) Your past history does not matter if you arrive with a non-immigration visa.

hi, I have a question in my mind related to this. When you apply say 1,5 or 2 months before the end of 90 days you leave your passport at the IO right? Then how many days it takes you to get your passport back? I may leave soon with a multi entry visa after I apply for an extension. Do you have to stay to the end of 90 days?

this question is about applying at an embassy. Most people apply through evisa and the passport isn't involved at all. The visa an email.

The only immigration office in Thailand that holds your passport if you're applying for a visa is Jomtien and that's for 1-2 days at most. Whether you can leave or not during an under consideration period if you're waiting for them to decide on your visa is a question you need to ask your immigration office.

I rephrase my question. How long does 90 days O e-visa for 1 year extension take (Hua Hin)? Can you get an extension and leave with a re-entry stamp before your original 90 days expires? Do you know if the Australian Embassy in BKK still gives a certificate of your income? They used to give in the past. Thank you

most 1-year extensions for retirement are issued the same day you apply.

If it's for marriage there is usually a 30 day under consideration period where they may come inspect your home and talk to your neighbors.

More and more offices have been doing home visits for retirement extensions as well so that may involve an under consideration period if they decide they want to visit.

I don't think Australia offers that, you would need to check the embassy website.

Yes sadly I think they stopped in 2018 more or less the same time as the US and UK embassies.
