Hello everyone, I started work for international kindergarten as a teacher but they said that they can not proceed my Visa documents because of the covid situation. Do you know if government issues visas for teachers at the moment? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the current status of visa applications for teachers in Thailand, given the complications due to COVID-19. Several commenters suggest contacting local immigration offices and consulting with legal firms to navigate the situation. They highlight that the inability to leave the country for Visa stamping may complicate matters, and point out specific requirements for transitioning to a Non-Immigrant type B visa from an amnesty status. There are also mentions of possible temporary visa extensions and alternative options such as the elite visa.

okay here's how that works.

Once you go onto amnesty <- (meaning your original entry stamp or extension stamp ran out) you CANNOT go from amnesty to ANY visa type inside the country :O

In order to apply in country at the immigration office for a 90 day Non-Immigrant type visa, you need between 15 and 21 "real days" left on your entry stamp (from a 30 day visa exempt entry or a 60 day tourist visa entry OR an extension from one of those entries. That's beause when you apply for an in country 90 day non-immigrant visa the application goes under consideration between 14 and 20 days (depending on the immigration office you apply at) and then you go back to get the Non-Imm visa and the new 90 day stamp inked into your passport. That's why you need that many days left on your current stamp.

As you are on amnesty you CANNOT get a Non-Immigrant Type B visa inside the country

I used an agent in October last year and changed from a tourist visa to a non immigrant B visa without leaving the country. 25,000 baht was the fee

@Ady *******
and last oct is NOT now with covid-19 going on

What's that got to do with the price of fish? Agents can still do it right now.

I am about to start a new job and the same agent is fixing my visa and transferring my work permit for the same fee of 25,000 baht.

All I can say

is some people have more money than brains :(

Really? So flying off to Singapore or KL, staying there for 2 nights, paying for a new visa, paying for a new work permit etc etc. How much does that cost? Oh wait, l cannot fly off to Singapore or KL. So what is my option?

Keep your small minded remarks to yourself. At least when l work l am legal.

I do think Tod's comment about more money than brains was unnecessary but if you visited this forum often you'd see the amazing amount of help he gives people virtually every day for not much money - um, free actually :)

Tourist visa

@Nik***
You shouldn't be teaching while on a tourist visa. Your school should have NO issue providing you with the paper work required for your visa. Covid has nothing to do with it.

Sounds more like they're doing something illegal and would rather keep you working on a tourist visa.

you should consult with a legal / accountancy firm and your local immigration office the only issue right now is that you wont be able to leave the country to get your Visa stamps. covid won't stop accountancy firms processing all necessary paperwork up to this point. you might be able to get a temporary visa or extension of stay on your current Visa in the interim.

. Is that date based on the amnesty, or does your visa actually expire on 31 July?
