The comments highlight frustrations regarding the Covid testing procedures in Thailand, especially the high costs and perceived lack of common sense in policies. Users express skepticism about the accuracy of tests, the impact of differing Ct value settings, and concerns over financial exploitation of travelers. There is also a general sentiment that these procedures feel like a scam, with calls for more rational solutions such as secondary testing. The conversation reflects broader issues of control and money in the context of pandemic measures.

Sadly people will forget these scams when its time to fall for some other ones once this Covid Positive Test Scam has run its course…

It’s just another Thai scam ..

Common sense would dictate that, in such circumstances, a 2nd test could be requested, and paid for if necessary, in case of a false positive? Oh wait, this is Thailand. No common sense in Thailand.

Terry Penney. Think about what you said. Foreigners coming in and paying over the top for testing and potential quarantine, whilst the Thai authorities and businesses are making the money. Who really has no common sense? 😆

Tragic. Ct value variance aside, the life cycle of the virus (initial exposure, test detection threshold, contagion, etc), and the time between pre-departure tests and arrival tests (one to three days) makes this situation inevitable, because everyone who catches the virus tests negative, until they don’t. Only after the world moves to truly living with the virus, without punishing the victims, will this situation be eliminated.

This is because of the Ct value setting method (40 cycles) in Thailand in comparison with that one in EU or UK about 25-30 cycles... It's a big issue and nobody seems to take action against it!
Yes, different Ct value test standards around the world is a headache (in Hong Kong the standard is an exceedingly sensitive 45), however each nation has chosen it’s own path through the pandemic. Though I must ask … what action would you propose?
action could be for example to impose through agreement between Countries that pcr on departure must have same Ct value of that one on arrival otherwise it's a scam! I can accept high Ct threshold 40 or more ok.. But at least the same before boarding plane.. Don't u agree? And now that pcr is not mandatory anymore on departure situation can be worst... 🤷♂️
I see. WHO is the appropriate forum for international coordination on such issues. However, when a few nations took aim at the WHO and politicised the situation very early in the pandemic, this opportunity was torpedoed.

That's what happens when you bring kids on holiday with you. Better off to leave them at home in the cupboard under the stairs with a month's supply of crackers and peanut butter 😆😆😆
