Are the new background check requirements for DTV visa applicants confirmed?
Are the new laws requiring a background check for DTV confirmed? I was just getting ready to apply but it looks like I might have more hoops to jump through. Do we know if this will require an FBI background check or just a check at my local police dept?
Answer summary
New laws concerning background checks for DTV visa applicants are confirmed to start on August 31. Applicants are advised to inquire if an FBI check is required; some suggest it will align with the Non-OA visa requirements, which do necessitate an FBI background check.

OPThis should help them cut tourism numbers even more. Every added hoop knocks a few more off. Not sure why they want that, but seems to be working well for them.

Starts 31 August. You'll need to ask the question as to the type of check if the consulate you will use but I'd imagine it would be the same as the Non-OA visa which requires an FBI check
