What documentation do I need to provide for proof of funds when renewing my Thai visa?
Bank letter proof of funds.
Ive just done another years visa with sitting funds untouched Y2Y.
My BKK bank branch tried to get me to buy 2 letters with the second one a statement of withdrawals and deposits.
I refused and at immigration I was told ‘next year I need both the proof of funds and a statement’.
I view this as a tax and wonder if any bank will make both on same letter like before stating funds have been in continuously for the qualifying period.
Yes, I’d change banks for 100 b a year and thanks.

keep a seperate account for your extension and just leave the balance 800k untouched, it can be an interest earning savings account or even a foreign currency account, I do this and never have an issue

SCB charged me 200 baht for each document. I think most people can afford that once a year.

For 800k method, at Jomtien an updated passbook for the year and the bank letter for 100 baht is sufficient

If you do change, Krungsri is the best. Been with them almost 22y. I have a cc with them and i don't work.

I have used Bangkok Bank for 10 years. My routine is to ask for a 12 month statement from the last extension date. This has to be ordered from Head Office therefore falls short. The day before going to Immigration, I go to the bank for a 6 month statement, immediate, as is the letter to show I am the owner of the account and the amount in it. Job done! 2 statements and 1 letter which is the requirement for the extension of stay based on retirement and 800k in a separate account. Never had any problem with this.

Imigration need to see how you pay & who you pay & overseas transfers thats why you need statements + bank certificate 200bht

Michael Sam Robson Immigration need to see that the 800k was maintained for the first 3 months of the current extension then never fell below 400k for the rest of the year before having 800k seasoned for two months at the time of the new extension application

You're lucky immigration let you away with that. Most unusual. Generally you need 3 bits of information from your bank to use the 800k method
A guarantee letter from your bank
A printout of your bank transactions from the date of your last extension
An updated bank book
The first 2 can normally be up to 7 days old, the 3rd on the day you go to immigration
