TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a South Korean visa while residing in Thailand on a DTV visa. Comments indicate a range of opinions regarding the eligibility based on visa status, noting that the South Korean embassy in Thailand allows applications from individuals on 'long term' visas. Some commenters highlight that the DTV visa may not meet this criterion and suggest that the type of visa held could affect the application process.

People responding are not understanding the question. OP wants to apply for a South Korean visa in Thailand, however the South Korean embassy only allows people on “long term” visas in Thailand to apply. OP wants to know if DTV (or previous ED) would count and therefore could use the Korean embassy in Bangkok to apply for the Korean visa. [Similar to how only Hong Kong residents could use the Thai embassy there to apply for a Thai visa]

I literally just came from south Korea I didn't need a Visa I bought a plane ticket.

If he is from some a special county that needs a visa he/she should say it.

- You are American, you have a passport that allows you to travel many places without a visa. He literally asked if he was eligible to apply for a Korean visit visa. I think that is pretty clear in saying he needs a visa.

The OP’s nationality makes no difference with this question. The South Korean embassy only allows individuals with residency/long term visas for Thailand to apply for a visa via the South Korea embassy in Bangkok. The OP was asking if the DTV visa qualifies as a “long term” (strange terminology) visa. The OP isn’t asking if they need a visa or not, but asking about DTV qualifying to meet the requirement to apply for the visa.

If you need to be "Resident" in Thailand to apply for the visa then maybe not - DTV is a tourist visa. For example the DTV cannot be used to apply for a Schengen Visa in Thailand

Thailand visa has nothing to do with a visa you have in a different country.
