TLDR : Answer Summary
A DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) holder can face challenges when applying for a Schengen visa in Thailand. To apply through VFS, one must 'live' in Thailand, typically requiring a long-term visa like Non-O, Non-ED, or Non-B. The DTV, being a tourist visa, may not qualify for this purpose. It's advised to check with the specific country's consulate for precise requirements and to consider applying from one's home country.

What is the reason you want to apply for a Schengen visa in Thailand?

Even when you are a Thai resident it is quite difficult to get a Schengen visa.

Why not apply for the Schengen visa in your home country?

DTV isn’t mentioned to Long term visa at Thailand. That’s way you must be 1st long term visa for Thai.

You should ask a particular country consulate where you are going to apply for Schengen visa. It seems that this is the best way to know an answer, better then consult with a mobile keyboard experts 🙂

I'm facing a similar situation. I contacted the embassy to ask if a DTV visa holder can apply for a Schengen visa in Bangkok. Their response was that it depends on the applicant's "habitual residence" and whether they can prove Thailand is their primary residence, not just a temporary tourist destination. They didn't give a definitive yes or no, but said I could apply if I believe I meet the requirements.

Most likely no. You need Non-O/ED/B. I was turned around even with Thailand Elite

Well, it was similar to opening a bank account - first they ask for a WP, then dig through their internal instructions which don’t mention TE, and then you get “mai dai”

I just do not like VFS for some irrational reason. Probably down to friends dealings eith them. I had had one face to face dealing with them and it was good lol. Need a new Brotish passport soon but I will use and agent for that.

This was asked yesterday. You must "Live" in Thailand to apply for Schengen Visa here through VFS. The DTV is a "Tourist" Visa.

No problem. Sometimes the search is not efficient either. I do know non-Thais who have got Schengen Visas here no problem but both on a B Visa with WP.
