So thanks for the replies on my past questions, very helpful.

My experience with khon kaen immigration and banking was long but not bad. We went to immigration (which is in the middle of nowhere 20 minutes north, don't know why.)about 945am, pretty quiet.

I just wanted a residence certificate for banking and drivers license. The copier lady on the 2nd floor was helpful, we had to go to the 90 day checking room first, I guess they verify you are valid or something. I already had a tm30 filled out with my sister in law signature. Copier lady made a copy of my passport.

Went into the 90 day room and dropped my packet in the inbox. An older civil servant picked it up, looked at it and handed it to the other worker. About 15 minutes later she called us up and asked what I wanted, then she gave us a couple of receipts and directed us to the main waiting room. Went to the guys at the info desk and they directed me to give my packet to the first lady officer. Nice looking older lady, but I don't think she is able to smile, the earth might stop moving 😄. The officer looked at the packet, gave it back to us with an application for the residence certificate. We filled it out and sat down to wait. An older female civil servant walked up to us and looked at the application, said she needed 500 baht and disappeared. Came back a few minutes later and gave the packet to her underling. 15 minutes later the underling came back with both certificates. One thing I will say about the older civil servant lady, she was extremely helpful to a couple who had filled out some of their forms incorrectly, so patient and understanding. Everything there is very professional, the only thing I have to say is that some of the Falangs just come in, ripped shorts, flip flops and crappy t shirt. At least try to look professional, throw a nicer shirt on and clean shorts, it's kinda embarrassing.

Next, went to the cell phone store in Central plaza, got a cell number in my name with receipt, easy.

Walked into K bank in the same mall. Opened up an account there. I had a new girl so it probably took 3 times longer. Only thing, they wouldn't let me use usd to open the account, I had to use baht. They said I can only transfer 50k per day, but hopefully that is withdrawal, I need to deposit 800k very soon and 50k per day is painful.

Hi everyone!

I’ll have my passport translated to English at my embassy. Then I’d like to legalize it.

1. Can I use any translation service in Bangkok to have my documents be translated to Thai?

2. For legalization I’ll need to take this Thai translation the the Ministry of Consular Affairs at Chaengwattana near the immigration building (as far as I know). Do I need an appointment for legalization or I can just show up and get a queue number?

Edit:

I just double checked the requirements and it says this.

“A copy of the passport translated into Thai and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”.

So do I need to go to the Foreign Affairs and not the Consular Affairs? They are two different places. And I just need to certify it and not legalize it?

This is for divorce purposes, if that matters.

Thank you.

So I went to the Phuket DLT office to extend my driver license as walk in customer as my licence expires December. The online que is booked out till February 2025.

I did the residency certificate and the health check up today beforehand. They checked all my documents at the DLT (all good) and I went to Teller 1 do give passport and 2 photos. Because everything is busy I got another appointment at the 23rd of December to do the test and collect.

But the health certificate is only valid for 30 days which is expired on the 23rd of Dec, not sure about the residency certificate. Do I have to bring new health check certificate for the visit on the 23rd?

Hi All....need a bit of advice please. Recently arrived in Nonthaburi with a view to retirement. Tried to open a bank account but told I need a certificate of residence. I am staying with a friend so we went to the Immigration in Nonthaburi and with no problem at all they issued a small piece of paper which was stamped and I assumed this was what was needed . Duly went back to Bangkok Bank who seemed quite happy with this and opened a bank account for me.

Today I have been to the transport place to apply for a Thai driving licence. All went well, watched the video and passed all the tests. So far so good....but....they would not accept this small piece of paper as proof of residence. Showed me an A4 piece of paper as an example with photo etc and stamped. They will not issue my licence until I go back with this proof of residence

M y question after all that is where do I get this from...immigration or the British Embassy? Advice appreciated

Hello everyone. Anybody here who has recently flown from Phnom Pehn and entered Thailand via Chiangmai? With what airline? Did you clear immigration in BKK or in Chiangmai?

Thanks in advance to those who will comment.🙏🙏

I’ve recently recovered from covid, my girlfriend didn’t catch it.

Just checking whether I have the correct understanding:

Both negative on arrival - happy days

I’m positive she’s negative - I show recovery certificate and pending doctors approval, symptoms, level of covid etc there’s no quarantine for either of us

I’m negative she’s positive - she’s put in quarantine, I’m free to travel and can’t join her even if I want to?

Both positive - she’s put in quarantine, if I show recovery certificate I’m free but I could chose not to and we can stay together?

It’s the last two I’m less sure about

Hello to everybody, thanks to added me on this group. I have to change agency for work here in Thailand, I already have the work permit and non B visa from the ex agency. The new agency said they need the cancelation letters for work permit and visa. Did anyone processed that already? How it really works? I mean which steps I have to do to stay legal?

Thank you in advance for any tip about it.
