Hi everyone,

I’m an Australian citizen currently working remotely in an IT role. I’m planning to apply for the new Digital Nomad (DTV) visa for Thailand — either directly myself or through an agent.

My goal is to continue my existing remote job while living in Thailand for an extended period. I’ve read through some of the official requirements but would appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the process recently.

Is it generally a straightforward application if you’re already employed remotely by an overseas company?

Any tips on what documentation or approach worked best — especially regarding proof of income, tax obligations, and how to structure the application (DIY vs. through a visa agent)?

Thanks in advance for any guidance or first-hand insights!

Hello, I’m considering getting the Muay Thai dtv

I have the funds in my account

Is it true that they’re gonna ask for my tax even though the Visa is a Muay Thai visa?

And will I be taxed?

DTV is half baked Thai initiative to attract young and skilled.

It is all about the tax they pay. Their home countries would not let them go just like that, like on a cruiser in international waters, floating for years, where do not have to pay any tax.

I would not be surprised if DTV gets scrapped within months.

Has anyone gotten a DTV but has mysterious sources of income. I make approx $10000 a month but don’t have a company- I stream on twitch from time to time and have subs on patreon. ( no nudity or anything at all) and have a big Twitter page with 50k where I get sent gifts under $. Or should I apply for soft power. Thanks :)

I have a situation that may or may not be complex. I work as an independent game developer and I'm moving to Thailand in July. For the past year I've worked on a commercial product which is nearly ready for release. It should be ready for release probably around when I first move to Thailand.

I plan to have sales profits sent directly to my bank account in Thailand. I have absolutely no issue paying taxes on whatever comes in. What I'm concerned about is the fact that I won't have a work permit and I read that any kind of digital work that provides income requires you to have a work permit. However what if 95% or even 100% of that work wasn't done in Thailand? Would I still require the work permit and DTV because the proceeds of that work are heading to a Thai bank account?

For additional context, I'll be on a Non-O Visa.

I've asked this question in other countries I've been an expat in and there are always a group of people that tell me to not send my money to Thailand and send it to my home country instead then wire to Thailand as needed. So let me just address this ahead of schedule. I have zero connection with my home country. No bank account, no family, nothing. I left it over 14 years ago and have no plans to go back.

hello there, As a Thai tax resident and DTV holder, do I need to pay any taxes if I’m not transferring money to a Thai bank account, and I’m only using my credit/debit cards from my home country? I’m also withdrawing small amounts of cash from ATMs using my home country's bank cards.

So my business get larger lump sums of money during summer and slows down in winter, so my past 4-6 months looks rather dull vs my summer last year and coming...

Proving funds is fine, but if they look they won't see alot of incoming money for the past few months.

Is that going to be an issue?

Also, what is considered a digital nomad? Paying tax in my own country or in thailand?

Okay. I'm a US citizen ready to become an expat in Thailand

What are my responsibilities to America. I am on medicare and medicaid but probably have to get part b. I am also on ssI with direct deposit. Will any of these benefits be compromised as an expat, and curious about tax liabilities. I know it's alot but I also know alot of you have gone through this. My visa would be non o with Thai Family.
