Will the immigration office on Koh Phangan be open for more than one day, and do I need an embassy letter for my visa extension?

Apologies if someone else asked this question.

I heard there will be an immigration office on Koh Phangan open on April 8.

1. is it only open for one day (which is what I heard), or will it be open longer (if yes, when, only certain days?)

1. I entered Thailand from Malaysia on March 16, got the visa waiver/visa on arrival 30 day (I think that's the term), and now wanna get a 30 day extension: DO I NEED A LETTER saying unable due to C19 from the Austrian Embassy (my husband is US citizen, same situation, does he need one?) or is that not necessary since the 30 day extension is technically speaking still within the allowed extension frame?

1. Regarding the immigration offices, I read in another post the officers want you to come the very day your visa expires or a day earlier, to avoid the masses. Is that correct?

1. Thanks so much! Really appreciate this forum and all the admins being so busy and taking their time to reply again and again to similar or same questions ! :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The immigration office on Koh Phangan will be open only on April 8 as a special service. For those who entered Thailand with a 30-day visa exemption, like the user, a letter from the embassy is not required to obtain a normal 30-day extension. It is advisable to visit the immigration office a day or two before the expiration of the current visa to avoid long wait times due to high demand for extensions.

Anyone knows of other dates on Koh Phangan? If they ask only those to come whose visa is expiring one or two days later, there should be such a special thing every third day ....

No, it is an extra service, these extension of stay on Embassy request is only to bridge the period that you fly back to your country.

I saw this yes, thank you! I was just hoping, since it's our first extension that we don't need the Embassy letter! Thanks y'all!

That's what I thought too
@Robert ******
. So NO regular 30 day extensions that day on Koh Phangan.
Robert *******
If it is your first Extension of Stay, you visit the immigration office in Koh Samui and apply for the normal 30 day Extension of Stay

The announcement with all the information

1. That is a special thing they're doing on the island THAT DAY ONLY.

2. Neither you nor your husband need the embassy letter to get the first "normal" 30 day extension on your 30 day visa exempt entry.

3. Due to the great number of people wanting to get the unable to travel due to covid-19 extension they ask you come a day or two before your current stamp expires

4. thanx for the thanx.
