Do I need to leave Thailand if I want to switch to my wife's DTV visa while she is already on it?

A little advice, please.

My wife and children are on DTV already, and I am on Non-O. With law changes, my non-O is expiring, so I want to follow my wife’s DTV. We are currently in Thailand and I know that I must leave Thailand to apply, but does my wife need to leave also, given that I’m following her?

Thanks for the help!

My friend hung out in Laos for his dependent visa. Took a week. Spouse came but it wasn’t asked if they were in or out.
