Transferred Non O visa to new passport. Expiration date for non O is August 9.

Question: If I go to renew early, for example July 15, will I ‘lose’ days OR will the extension always begin from the current expiration date i.e. August 9. ? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user transferred their Non-O visa to a new passport and is concerned about renewing it early, specifically whether they would lose days on their visa. Community responses indicate that applying for a one-year extension early does not result in losing days; the new expiration will always start from the current expiration date. Therefore, even if they renew on July 15, the extension would begin from the original expiration date of August 9.

aside.. What is a "NON - RE" visa ? When you apply for that extension "TM-7", would you put NON-RE for the Type of Visa field entry?

, it means you entered on a re-entry permit. It's used only for entry stamps. "Non-RE" is not something foreigners write on any forms.

Thanks. I thought that was the 'transferred' Non-O visa to the new passport for the OP. I will be transferring non-O to a new passport in a few months, and I would expect an actual Non-O (copy) visa image in the new passport.

I think that means non immigrant visa Reentry permit which means that you entered on a non immigrant visa using a reentry permit.

As long as you apply for a one-year extension based on the same reason as the current one, your next extension will be added to the current extension, which means it will be 10 August 2025 - 9 August 2026, regardless of how early you apply. You don't lose any day to apply early, no worries.
