Hi everyone, my first post and want to clarify even of its been asked a hundred times… Cheers

I am an Australian citizen, and I am writing to seek clarification regarding my eligibility to apply for a Digital Nomad (DTV) visa.

Recently, I was refused entry at Thai Immigration at Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The reason provided was the frequent use of visa exemptions, not any visa overstay or legal violation. I was informed that I could return to Australia and reapply for a proper visa if I wished to stay in Thailand for an extended period.

Before I proceed with my DTV visa application, I would like to confirm whether my previous entry refusal will affect my eligibility, and whether any record in the immigration system would prevent me from obtaining a DTV visa.

For your reference, I have never overstayed in Thailand and have always complied fully with immigration laws. My intention in applying for the DTV is to stay lawfully in Thailand while working remotely for my overseas clients.

My visa is now pending approval however it has been 3 and a half weeks already almost 4 and still not approved.

I am starting to get worried that it wont be approved. I see many others getting their in a more efficient timeframe.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian citizen is seeking clarification on their eligibility for a Digital Nomad visa in Thailand after being refused entry due to frequent use of visa exemptions. They inquire if this refusal will impact their ability to obtain the new visa, despite their compliance with immigration laws and no history of overstaying. Community responses suggest that previous visa exemptions shouldn't affect their application and recommend contacting the Thai embassy for direct information.

Contact the Thai embassy that you applied at. Australia is really good you can call or email. Don't ask here go direct to the source. Your previous visa exempts have nothing to do with a long term visa application. You are not a criminal ffs chill but put in the call

I think this is great everyone getting booted out of thailand. For overstays too many exemptions and boarder runs. This great.

No one knows if they will block you. Just try

You should try , no one knows. If someone says same case could be okay , it does not mean you also would be. Try and see.

Not an issue. Hundreds of applicants in the same scenario are approved regularly.

You got denied entry with a reason, not because frequent use of visa exemption.

Sorry but that reason is not mentioned in section 12 of the Immigration act.

But that aside, as you write the advice was to get the correct visa for the purpose of you visits in Thailand, you follow this advice.

Do as you plan, stay lawfully in Thailand and you won't go to jail.

Others similar to you have got approval for your DTV. Your VE record will not go against you. Where did you apply for the DTV?, some embassies take 4-6 weeks to approve.

Things have changed but it is inevitable with the huge increase in foreigners now living in Thailand. Get yourself a back up account with WISE etc just in case your account is closed

Ok, were you asked to submit additional docs? If you did then the approval time is reset back to zero when they receive them

oh really, that i did not know. Also do you know if my bkk bank account will be affected switching onto a different visa? Ive never changed my mobile same as i set it up with

@Calvin *******
Yeah, approval is stopped when a request is made and then restarts upon receipt of requested docs The effect on your bank account depends on your branch. Some have kept their accounts, others have had theirs shut upon switching to the DTV. It is very much down to your manager.
