DTV Rejected

I'm at a complete loss. Applied at HCMC under soft power. I meet every single requirement for the visa, I'm a US passport holder, showed 2x the required savings solely in my name, did a 1 year Muay Thai, explained my 5 year plan, showed non work related income (husbands veteran disability) for passive income to sustain living in Thailand, sponsor letter from him for the income, documentation from the VA showing me as his dependent in terms of disability payments. Not getting any explanation for denial is extremely frustrating and I would love to apply again as I truly want to train Muay Thai but I'm not going to waste my time or money if I don't know the reason for denial. Anyone have any suggestions?
Summary so far
The user reported the rejection of their DTV visa application despite fulfilling all requirements, including financial stability, a sponsor's letter, and a plan to train Muay Thai. They expressed frustration over the lack of a clear reason for the denial and sought suggestions for reapplication from the community. Comments included varied personal experiences regarding re-entry, requirements for cash upon entry, and insights about immigration processes in Thailand.

I just arrived at Suvarnabhumi 2 days ago. Showed my TDAC, Passport and DTV visa. Stamped through, no questions asked.

I did have all the documents printed and 20k i cash just in case, but I didn't need to show them.

Hi. You can avail the fast track if you were denied entry and if you were not being deported.

Are we talking just Thailand cos I spent 3.5 months in Houston immigration detention center because “you don’t have enough money for a six month holiday because I don’t have enough money for a six month holiday therefore you’re living and working here illegally” and apparently no proof of income or bank funds were necessary for this to be cleared up because he ‘knew’ 😅😅

I was threatened with it but it didnt happen in the end. They were confused why im still coming back in after a year in Thailand even though I'm on the dtv. I showed them my invoices and contracts etc and they told me no, they want pay slips. I told them i dont have pay slips because im the freelance/ self-employment route. They asked to see what i submitted for the application - they didnt even know what it was they wanted - and i said i applied with what i already showed them. It was such a headache and they were like 'aww are you gonna cry because you will when we deport you'...

Long story short, im not going through BKK again unless i pay for a visa agent / fast track. Previous two times however I entered no questions asked with my 180 day stamp.

apparently they have banned illegal fast tracks last week. I am also concerned about it. I live in chiang mai, have long term lease and two cats. Do you have a reliable visa agent?

Yes, I have a DTV visa and entered Thailand 7 months ago. After a few months, I decided to have an international trip but when I went to immigration in airport, they stamped exit on my passport and sent me back. Till this day, I can't figure what went wrong. 🥺

P.S. It's my 100% real, authentic experience.

isn’t that normal? Aren’t you supposed to get a re-entry permit if you want to come back?

EfficientFlamingo6288 this is a satirical comment. DTV is a visa and Thailand is not strict enough to stamp exit after a visa.. unless you really want to go out of country.

EfficientFlamingo6288 You don't need re entry permit on a dtv. You already have it

My family and I re-entered last week and were not asked anything. We went to the counter, handed the IO our passport, laminated copy of DTV and we were stamped in without any questions.

CapableCelery590 I believe this 100%. On our first entry we only had an A4 print out of the eVisa. The IO tossed it aside started flipping through the passport and then asked "where's your visa?" Before we could answer he grabbed the paper and said "Oh is this it?" The 2nd reentry we laminated the eVisa and got no questions.

It's a good point and i think just to be safe the visa should be printed in A1, you must request this for easier scanning for IO

Entered for a 2nd time yesterday after traveling to Cyprus for a week. Came through no issues, hardly looked at DTV, took fingerprints and stamped me for 6 months.

The only definite case that has been confirmed about entry denied was 2 Ukrainians. The gym was called and they were not known to the gym. Around same time a guy living in Chiang Mai was stopped at BKK on way to CNX. The gym confirmed he was known and he entered fine but delayed.

If you fail requirements you’ll be asked to buy an exit flight and visa will not be cancelled.

No, this has never happened to someone with a DTV. And no one has been put in jail for having a DTV.

Stop spreading ignorance.

Thank you, Steve. You make me feel better. I am re-entering tomorrow and just get concerned of those rumors.

MagentaTurtle3644 if you have 20,000 baht in cash, there will be no reason to not let you in. Worst case, you'll have to buy a ticket out of Thailand, which you can do in 2 minutes on your phone. But the chances of having any problems are extremely low.

LongTimeLivingInThailand it's not a rule for DTV holders. It is for all tourists. If they ask, you need to have

thb (or other currency) in cash.

And based on your jail-comment, it doesn't surprise me that you don't know the actual rules.

never heard of anyone that's on DTV asked to show cash or funds when doing entry.

It has to be hard cash or can I just show the bank balance?

If you have a DTV visa you will most probably not be denied entry. I have not seen a single case on the forums online, but maybe there are some unreported ones

You wouldn't get deported, in order to be deported you have to be stamped into the country.

If you're talking about trying to enter on a DTV and getting denied entry typically you get sent back to the last place you transited through although if you are an a**hole to the immigration officers they can send you back to country of passport origin.

Remember being denied entry does not mean you're deported, does not mean you're blacklisted, does not mean your banned. All it means is on that attempt to enter they didn't let you in, it doesn't void your visa, it doesn't do anything but turn you around and send you back on your dime.
