Hi

Regarding sufficient funds for travelling in Thailand with DTV .

If I have savings which are not in a bank account , but liquid.

Do they acknowledge that?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether liquid savings not held in a bank account are acknowledged as sufficient funds for the DTV visa in Thailand. Multiple commenters suggest that embassies typically require proof of funds in the form of bank accounts, as they want to see funds that are easily accessible for at least the past 3-6 months. It is recommended to contact the specific embassy for clarity, as requirements can vary, but generally, bank statements are deemed necessary for proving financial stability.

Reason to show money is “can you support yourself?”

That is only proven if it’s in a bank account.

Whatever else (insurance) can be broke next minute.

(Banks can too, but way harder and usually the government catches them)

Just put it in the bank like everyone has to. Every visa has rules to follow.

They usually want to see instant accessible funds in the bank account for up to last 6 months. The embassy you will apply through will tell you much clearer.

Sounds like you have money you can’t easily liquidate. What you’ll wanna do is take out an collateral loan against your assets

Idk what your country’s financial products are , but in the USA if you have investments , bonds, or term life insurance (infinite banking

You can take out a loan against your assets or even cash out the life insurance while living

Ask the embassy you're applying to. But 99% of the time they want to see the money in the savings bank account under your name. Some embassies also want to see that money sitting in your bank account for the past 3 months at the least.

Is there some reason you can’t have a bank account? I’ve never been to a country that when they wanted to see my finances they didn’t want to see bank accounts 🤔

they aren’t really interested in assets. Do you need that specific visa? Are you staying? I’m just curious because there seems to be a huge influx of Israelis recently.

I’m interested in DTV.

It is money on my name just not in my bank account. In insurance company. The money is liquid. And I can show it

that wont work.

Money on bank account!

And several embassies require the balance to have been over the requirement (500k) for 6

Months. While others only care about current balance.

I honestly don’t know. It seems you are really set on them accepting it the way you have it but I think most of us in the group that can answer you, have all had the experience that they want it in a bank account. Perhaps there is another way. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ask the embassy you want to apply at. They set the rules and make the decisions. Each embassy is different.
