Will my ED Visa affect my application process and does the bank statement requirement matter?

Hi all,

I have 2 questions:

1: Im currently on an ED Visa, which runs out end of Juli. Does that influence. my application procedure?

2: My bank account does not have the required 500K baht for 3 months (only 2) does this matter?

3: I read this on a thai embassy website: **All supporting materials that are issued outside of Thailand and the US must be accompanied by certified English translations and notarized by an Embassy/Consulate or Ministry of Foreign Affairs only*

^ does anybody know the specifics on this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The expiration of your ED Visa should not significantly affect your application for a new visa, though it’s advisable to ensure it's canceled properly. Regarding the financial requirement of maintaining a minimum balance of 500,000 baht for three months, some embassies are more flexible, with approvals granted even when the balance isn't maintained for the full period. Additionally, not all Thai embassies require supporting documents issued outside Thailand to be translated and notarized, so it's important to check the specific requirements of the embassy you are applying through.

Hi Oscar! Happy to share some info based on our experience assisting applicants through our cooking school and visa agent partners:

1) ED Visa: Your current ED visa won’t affect your DTV application. Many of our students either let their ED visa expire first or cancel it before applying — both have worked without issue.

2) Bank Balance: While the guideline mentions a 3-month minimum, we’ve seen successful approvals from certain embassies (like Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam) even with only 1–2 months of THB 500,000+ in the account. Approval also depends on the overall strength of your profile.

3) Not all embassies strictly enforce this. Most of our applicants did not need to translate or notarize documents.

Hope this helps!

ED should not affect application process, just be aware you might get pulled aside on first entry for them to check some thing on the system, should be relatively painless (happened to me). If applying before ED runs out make sure actually you cancel it before you leave, don't just depend on exit =cancellation scenario, school should be able to advise on that. As to the 500k, not all embassys require it to be there for 6 months, check posts here for which don't

I only had the 500k in my account for 1 month and was approved
