Do I need to show THB 500,000 for a Thai visa extension or can I just show varying balances?

Hi all ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜Š

Two questions

1. Do I need to show above 500k thb 3 months back? Or is ok if I have 350k, 280k 580k or something like that on that past months

2. When extending to another half year - do I need to show 500k again? Or anything else I need to proof? Or just pay another 10k and get 6 more months?

Thank you ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to show THB 500,000 in your bank account for a Thai visa or extension can vary by embassy; some may require a minimum balance over the last six months while others may need only the current balance. For visa extensions, it appears that some may require the same financial documentation as when applying initially, while others suggest simply leaving and re-entering Thailand to get a new visa stamp without needing to show funds.

Thanks everyone for your answers

I'm gonna do it in Vietnam - and I understand they are not super strict

About the extension - I can see the is a difference between doing an extension from inside Thailand - or just going out and coming back in and getting another months

I didn't know that was an option - if you can do extension by leaving the country and coming back - and no requirements - that would be great

you'll find a post in here from a chap that asked at Krabi immigration when he went for 90 day reporting so slightly more than just rumors when coming from a government officer I'd say...

As they're the people who can process your extension....

1) It depends on which embassy you apply through. Some require 6 months, some only current account balance.

2) First point to bring up is extension versus reentry. No one has extended yet and so not sure what will be required for an extension. If you leave the country and re-enter then nothing is required. Every time you enter you get 180 day stamp. (I have already done this)

No one knows for sure, but I expect extensions to have the same requirements as getting the visa, and I expect they'll be 1,900 baht.

1) That depends on each specific embassy

2) Nobody knows, as this hasn't happened yet. However, it's a widely accepted opinion that you won't need to show anything IF you just reenter (as opposed to getting an extension in country).
