Hoping for some advice...
My husband is currently on a 1-year retirement visa. Now the change in law means he can apply for a dependent visa as I have a 1-year work visa. He's applying via UK embassy e-visa, and we'll go across to Vietnam and reenter to activate it. His current retirement visa expired on 4th Nov. If he leaves on the 4th and enters in the 5th, will that cause any issues? My HR dept. is saying he would need to go to immigration and get the cancelled stamp on the retirement visa or it could cause issues is that correct?
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice regarding the transition from a retirement visa to a dependent visa for her husband, who plans to leave Thailand just before his retirement visa expires and re-enter with a new dependent visa obtained through the UK embassy. The comments emphasize that applying for a visa while in Thailand is not permitted, and it is necessary to be physically present in the jurisdiction of the embassy. Additionally, it is clarified that there is no cancellation needed for the retirement visa; it becomes invalid upon leaving the country without a re-entry permit.
