What are the steps my wife should take to avoid issues with her visa status in Thailand after changing her ED visa to a retirement visa?

I need a valid opinion about this.

My wife was here on ED visa. She still could have renew it for 3 other months. But as we were married that year, 2021, the visa agent said better to get her on my retirement visa.

So they arranged that got stamp from Chonburi immigration. All good

Until we traveled to Europe, and when came back, had problem at airport immigration.

What we did not know, was that immigration should not have allowed to convert the visa, without she left the country and come back on tourist first.

Now, as I convinced, that there was not bad intention of our part, she was allowed back in.

But what is going to happen next time? Now she went out and came back in, will the problem be solved? Or will she risk every time to be denied? Also we need to extend our retirement visa in July...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user raised concerns about their wife's visa status after converting her ED visa to a retirement visa. Although they experienced issues at airport immigration, responses suggest that she needs to properly regularize her visa situation by leaving Thailand, obtaining the correct Non-O visa as a trailing spouse from outside the country, and then re-entering Thailand. This would help avoid future complications and ensure proper visa alignment.

You need to regularise your wife's situation. She needs to leave Thailand and obtain a Non-O visa as a trailing spouse outside of Thailand then come back at which time she can piggy back on your retirement visa

There's no problem converting a Non-O education to a Non-O marriage. The IO at the airport was just bored and wanted to give you a hard time.

No. I had first a normal, young officer. he went into the passport, and all history appeared on his screen. Something was wrong. he called a responsable officer, who gave us hard time for an hour, then went to original officer, that was gone, but gave the new instructions to let us through. Then that one reported also the problem again. I not understand completely what th issue was there. But as I understand it, her ED visa could not have had been converted to retirement.
