Hi guys,

Quick question, I'm flying in from Vietnam and I noticed all flights are connecting though Bangkok, my question is, will I pass immigration through Bangkok or the last destination? (Chiang Mai, Phuket)

I'm planning on coming with a visa exempt and I've heard BKK are a little tougher

Help appreciated, smart comments save your time 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
When flying into Thailand from Vietnam, you will typically go through immigration at your first point of entry, which is Bangkok in this case. The process may depend on whether your flights are booked on a single ticket or separately. It's advisable to have your documentation ready for a smoother experience, as Bangkok immigration is usually not overly strict.

Why the rush to get back to Thailand? Vietnam is better.

In pre-covid days Thai Airways used to do transfer of luggage through Bangkok to CM and Phuket. You still had to clear immigration in Bangkok, but customs were cleared at final destination.. Probably not been reinstated yet

You go through immigration at the first stop in the country.

Hi, yes, you will clear immigration in Bkk. Since you’ll be on connecting flight (if same airline), after having your Thailand pass checked, just follow the arrows saying “connecting flight to Chiangmai, Krabi …” There is an immigration desk right after you show your boarding pass (for your connecting flight) to the transfer desk. The IO there seems not as tough as what was mentioned in other stories. All I got asked of is if I have a visa.

I cleared customs and got my checked through luggage in CNX.

I think you’ll be on similar route, right? In my case, same airline entering Bangkok then connecting to CNX. Bangkok Airways.

If you haven't been to to Thailand, too much. Immigration isn't really tough. I recommend having your paperwork in order and not worry about it.

Depends on the ticket you bought. If its one ticket or you have to go through immigration. Check your booking

yes but 1 ticket or 2 ? Checked all the way to CM? If you have to go pickup your luggage and then check in to next flight then you will do immigration in Bangkok
