Hi, I thought I had posted this question yesterday but I cannot find it, so if this is a duplicate I apologize.

I am currently in China teaching and I will get my Covid vaccine on Friday. I have a Thai wife but due to the pandemic I have been unable to return since last January but I'm planning to return in the summer.

Will I still need to stay in quarantine?

What visa will it be best for me to get?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they will need to quarantine upon returning to Thailand after receiving a Covid vaccine, as well as what type of visa would be best to apply for given their situation. Responses indicate that it is likely they will still need to undergo quarantine due to ongoing regulations, despite being vaccinated. The suggested visa options include a Visa Exempt for short stays or a Non-O visa based on marriage for longer stays, with additional requirements such as a Certificate of Entry and health insurance.

So China has started vaccinating citizens and expats?

The only reason the UK and US are waiting three months is to try and get everyone covered with at least on shop first to take the pressure of hospitals

@Colin *******
that makes sense.

But here there is still very few cases, my city has had nothing since last year (March)
Natalia ****
Strange that having very few cases and still forcing foreigners into quarantine on arrival, China is still quite reluctant on issuing new visas for potential visitors/expats.

yeh, I don't quite get that ever, but hopefully as the vaccine is more widely used things will gradually return to "norm"

Also it is well accepted that the vaccines last 3 months before you need a booster (this is why the CDC let you skip quarantine if your in contact within 3 months of vaccinates) so dont rule out the fact you'll have to get it again closer to the time if the rule changes

after the 2 shots you have full immunity for a year +
Max ********
@Colin *******
that's a total lie, how would they know you have a year immunity if they havent even had these vaccines for a year, why would the CDC have it this way then
Colin ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Max *******
they are guessing, nobody knows for sure but going by previous vaccines etc they think at a minimum it will be a year

@Colin *******
mate these passports like the one in israel expire months after the you take the last shot, after which you have to get the shot again or lose your freedom, I'm not even making this up it's literally the rules

Well accepted by who?
Max ********
@Garrett **********
CDC for example, the freedoms you are given last 3 months from your shot, after then you have the same freedom as someone unvaccinated, Israel's vaccine passport is also time limited as well
Max ********
There is little evidence of antibodies lasting longer than 3 months from either the vaccine or natural immunity so this rule makes sense

The summer is a way off yet and rules could change BUT it is extremely likely you will still need to quarantine for 15 nights.

In terms of visa, it depends how long you want to stay and what the Thai Embassy/Consulate where you are will give you.

If you’re British you can enter on Visa Exempt and stay up to 75 days. A tourist visa will give you up to 90 days. Any longer and you’ll need a Non O for marriage.

In any case, you’ll need a CofE and insurance, test etc.
Steve *********
Yes you will. They're discussing the possibility of vaccines escaping quarantine. But until then (who knows how long?), quarantine it is.
