TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquired about re-entering Thailand with an expiring PE Visa and whether they would receive a new entry stamp valid for a year. Comments clarified that as long as the PE visa is still valid upon entry, the individual would receive a new year-long stamp, regardless of the visa's expiration date. However, they would lose privileges associated with the PE membership and would need a re-entry permit for any subsequent exits and entries.

o.k....I got confused,because the thai elite staff told me that after my membership would expire I maybe would get a stamp until my Visa expires...in my case 5 days...that is not true, right?

o.k, thanks a lot...

that is totally NOT true and NOT how a VISA works.

A multi-entry visa is good for unlimited entries with each entry getting you stamped in the number of days according to that visa. It doesn't matter if you stamp in on the last day the visa is valid you will get stamped in for the number of days that visa affords you entry (which in your case is a year every time you enter the country)

@Ul**
now as far as your situation in your post, YES you will most definitely get stamped in for a whole year as long as you enter the country on or before the date that PE visa expires.

BUT if you needed to leave/re-enter the country during this year stamp you're going to get (after the visa expires) you WILL need to buy a re-entry permit (single re-entry for 1000baht or multiple re-entry for 3800baht) A re-entry permit will not add any time to the year stamp you're going to get, BUT it will let you exit/re-enter and get stamped in for that stamp expiration date

Guess I'll try again next week, sorry guys :/

thank you...very helpful information...that means you get stamped in for another year, if the Visa is still valid....
Tod *********
yes BUT what it didn't hash out was the information that
@Peter *******
got from the Elite people alleging overstay and saying that IF you get that last year (the 6th year) AND you want to re-up to a new 5 year elite you end up on overstay or something.

I did get the immigration officers to 100% agree with my premise that all a visa does is allow you to apply to enter the country and if you're allowed in you get stamped in for xxx amount of days according to the visa

AND

They agreed that it's the "admitted until" stamp you get FROM the visa that lets you stay in thailand AND that stamp is valid even if it runs longer than the validity of the visa. They said the PE Visa is under the same rules in that regard as all visas.

I was at Chaengwattana today and asked TWO different supervisors about it AND I had pictures of a 5 year PE visa and a year long entry stamp from using it.

Now i did NOT get to speak to the Elite representative who is stationed out there

BUT

The people I did talk to are senior people who RUN sections and they said. And not that it matters but the entire conversation was in thai (yes I actually can speak coherent enough thai to talk about visas, entry stamps, etc) :P

This is what they said;

The visa is valid for 5 years from the date it's issued

it is good for unlimited entries during that 5 year period

EVERY entry will get you stamped in for a new year

Exiting and Re-entering just prior to the VISA expiring will get you a new one year admitted until stamp that remains valid even after the visa expires. However IF you are going to exit/re-enter the country after the visa expires you need a re-entry permit to keep that stamp 'alive' so you're stamped in until the end of it when you come back.

They did say your PE privileges run out when the visa does (or sooner sometime depending on when they actually activated your membership) and you couldn't use the Elite counter to do 90 day reporting, OR get the pick up delivers from the airport or use the elite lounge IN the airport OR use fast track immigrations stamping in

I go out to immigrations next week again and I hope to meet with the elite representative then.

Keep in mind these people are immigration officers (they know visas and they know entry stamps and they know extensions) they are NOT elite sales people or elite representatives.

That's all I have sorry, so we will have to wait until next week to hash it out any more

.. no offense taken. Genuinely happy you have the passion to get to the bottom of it

hi tod, let me please know what you found out about Visa stamps after membership is expired, but Visa still valid...thanks
Tod *********
I want people to be able to get the stamps they should out of that visa and not be threatened or cajoled with b/s about being on overstay or anything by a company that is overzealous in trying to cram another 5 year visa into your passport for 500K :O

I will do my best to get to the bottom of it

@Peter *******
, please know I meant no disrespect to you, I trust the elite people NOT at all, and I trust the immigration people just a little more than that.. :O

Which is why I said IF you're going to renew you need to get a hold of them and hash it out

BUT

if you're not you need to forget talking to them or their representative out at Chaengwattana (who I am meeting Thursday) and just get the last year entry stamp that visa affords you under the terms of the visa and cut the elite people loose.
Peter ********
@Tod ********
You can have my stamps too if you like :)
Peter ********
@Tod ********
I'm aware of all that and the way the entry stamps and extensions are meant to work. As we've talked about before, that is not what Thailand Elite is telling their members
Tod *********
I'm looking forward to meeting the elite representative out there on Thursday ;) I have examples of entry stamps, and visas and everything. :P
Tod *********
@Peter *******
they probably would stamp canceled or USED on your VISA sticker because that isn't what lets you stay IN thailand. It's the entry stamp that let's you stay in thailand and that's the little square stamp you got when you entered on the visa while it was still valid. They can't cancel that. I went round and round with them on the phone already about it.

They are saying the visa is canceled and they're right it's expired as in you can't use it to enter the country or for any of the percs you get on that visa BUT they did finally admit that the entry stamp you got on the visa is still valid
Peter ********
I'll say nothing more... you're the man to get to the bottom of it :)
Peter ********
When meeting the rep out at CW Thurs... ask them about the list of Elite memberships that are due to expire that they send to CW every week that automatically invalidate the visa sticker. Again, could be rubbish, only repeating what they told me
Tod *********
I would say IF you intend to renew the PE visa get ahold of Thai Elite NOW to negotiate a good discount for re-upping.. Other wise ignore them and just get the last year and find a new way to stay after that..

I'm not going to comment further because my original post last week warning of this was treated as fear-mongering and deleted. You'll have to make your own decision with conflicting info
Ulli ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
yes, that is exactly what they told me....that is why I asked this forum....
Peter ********
also, IF you plan on renewing, you need to get onto it... they will tell you that renewal can take anywhere from 1 - 2 months... you may run into issues if your membership expires before hand
Peter ********
You will get 3% on the 5 year PE visa.... and with all due respect to the mods, Thailand Elite will tell you that your premission to stay is tied directly to your membership expiration date and NOT to any permission to stay stamp. For this to be un-true and for mods to be correct, it must be assumed all Thailand Elite staff are lieing. At the very least I think its irresponsible not to tell you to thalk tto thailand elite as I have.... and I'm not about to get into another argument with mods about it. But have definately changed my plans based on that info

thanks tod

You will be stamped in for a whole new year BUT remember any of your benefits from the PE visa plan will expire when your membership does. So they won't take you to from the airport, won't do your 90 day reporting AND if you need to leave once the visa expires you would need to buy a re-entry permit so that your entry stamp doesn't cancel when you stamp out.
Michael *********
Is the reentry permit purchased when you arrive or when you leave first time on new stamp?
