Another banking question. I opened a bank account at Kasikorn Bank on ED visa 3 years ago. Now since 1 year on DTV visa. My ATM card got hacked (some unauthorized transactions), so I had to cancel it.
Now if I want a new card I have to go with my passport to the branch and order a new one. Will I wake a sleeping dragon if I do that, now that I am on DTV or it's no problem with Kasikorn Bank?
I checked already, I can put cash into my account with just my account number at the cash ATMs. QR is also still working, online transfers into my account as well.
But what if I need a new card, or change my phone number?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired whether they would encounter issues when visiting a Kasikorn Bank branch to request a new ATM card, given their change from an ED visa to a DTV visa. Community responses generally indicated that it should not be a problem if they have the necessary documentation, such as a rental agreement, and highlighted that other users have successfully updated their information without complications. Some suggestions included utilizing cardless ATM features or online banking options as alternatives.
Have you got a lease / rental agreement where you stay if so you should be okay but at the end of the day it depends who will be dealing with you be nice and polite and hopefully π€ you will get sorted !
Just to contribute, I received a notification and email from Bangkok Bank to update my information (itβs been 4 years since the account was opened with an ED visa and my very first condo address upon arriving). I showed up with my TM30 for my current address, the lady looked at my DTV, and she only asked me how long the visa is valid for. I answered, "5 years in 6-month increments," and I just signed all the documents for the address change, and that was it.
The only bank that has been affected, because of all the scam/money laundering accounts tied to a Pattaya branch, is Bangkok Bank. Kasikorn is not affected concerning existing accounts. The only thing going on with all banks now is they won't open New accounts for those with tourist entries. I haven't heard of any other banks closing accounts. By all means though, keep all your details, including your visa, updated with your bank.
