I'm going from an edu visa to DTV (workcatiion) on my second passport. I have a Thai bank account. My friends said it could be blocked once I switch to DTV. Has this actually happened to someone?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about potential issues with their Thai bank account upon switching from an educational visa to a DTV visa using a second passport. The community responds with mixed insights, indicating that accounts opened legitimately should be fine. Concerns are raised about accounts opened under tourist visas that might be scrutinized more severely. Suggestions include not disclosing the visa change unless necessary and ensuring the Thai phone number linked to the account is in the user's name.
Bank account where, what bank, when was it opened?

Why are you changing passport? Just getting a new passport (same nationality, just a renewal) caused issues with my bank.

Don't tell them you've switched visa and make sure the thai phone number associated with your account is in your name

They are mostly targeting accounts that have been opened on tourist visas using shady agents, as far as I understand it. In a effort to combat money laundering or something.
If opened yours legitimately, and then you change to a DTV it SHOULD be fine. And if it isn't, it should be fixable by verifying yourself at a bank branch. Probably the one where you opened the account in the first place.

I am in the same situation. I think if you don't go to update anything in the short term you good. but if you want to update something or buy a condo then you need to say "hi here is my new dtv visa". But if you had a history of ed visa, you should be good. Just do everything the thai way and show them you are not doing fraudulent activities. Also if you are not Russian you should be good. also if the branch is a small one, you should be good. having history of ed visa, you should know how to talk to them and reassure them. I could also be wrong 100% good luck
