UPDATE —-

I was just stamped 60 days with no questions asked. Thank you for your information. ❤️

In the past 6 months I have been travelling and during this time I have entered Thailand 4 times, I have stayed less than 30 days each time and for 3 weeks each entry. I’m a UK citizen and have entered Thailand under the visa exemption. I wish to enter Thailand again tomorrow, this will be my 5th entry and I will be attempting to do so by land (this is my second entry by land). I genuinely just love Thailand and I am not working.

MY QUESTION - Do you think I will have any problems on my entry tomorrow (5th) I have proof of onward travel and funds available.

I can answer any questions in the comments. Sorry if this has been asked already. Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author, a UK citizen, has successfully entered Thailand multiple times under the visa exemption, staying less than 30 days each time. Concerned about potential issues on their fifth entry, they seek advice from the community. Respondents emphasize that entry decisions depend on the immigration officer and stress maintaining a history of short visits. Several users share personal experiences suggesting that as long as the author stays within the legal limits and presents proof of onward travel, they are likely to be allowed entry without complications.

I have entered 6 times via air in the last 13 months, staying between 2 and 4 weeks and no questions asked…

It’s more about the length of stay vs entries you should be fine

I think you will be fine. If they pull you aside to ask more questions, play it cool. Explain how much you love Thailand (as you did in this post), explain your employment/life doesn't allow you to live their full time, but you enjoy spending your free time in Thailand. The immigration officers like hearing good things about their country.

I think people run into problems for one of two reasons, A) They're assholes who think they are entitled so they become combative, or B) they have a problematic history (black listed, then arrested, then ....).

You seem like a decent bloke who spends money in Thailand, you're exactly the kind of people they want in their country.

Thank you for your response and advice. I will of course speak very highly of Thailand to the officer on duty and pray they want me 😂💪.

That should be okay, you're still far below the amount of time at which entering becomes nontrivial.

Prior to getting a long term

visa, for many years I entered 8-12 times a year. I always left for 7-14 days each time. Never a single question or issue.

Thank you for your response. I’m unaware how long ago you obtained your long term visa but I am aware rules change frequently in Thailand, I hope I enter with ease as you did in the past.

it was just a year ago. In 2022 post covid entered 8-9 times visa exempt. you most likely will not have any problems if you are leaving for several days or more and not getting extensions.

180day per yr

this is not true? by air you have unlimited entries without limit. I think the limit is now relaxed for land border rule too - previously was 5?.

180 day is a universal rule, where you're considered resident if you stay for more than 180 days and are technically tax liable, IF you are bringing income into the country [aka moving money to thai bank account]

If your'e traveling around Asia, you're fine dude! enjoy

Thank you for your response 🙏. Could I ask where you got this information from as I couldn’t find this when researching.

From an old law dropped many years ago but often used when they think someone is abusing the system as it still sounds legitimate

border entry officers at airport typically. But with the new visas and changes it’s hard to tell now. Income tax accessibility for over 180 day stays are a new factor. I suspect that the tax thing may self police people’s long term stay to some extent

You’ll be fine mate. It’s not like you are trying all the loopholes to stay full time. You are using visa exemption for exactly what it’s there for and that is shorter trips and not long term stays

Most important is how long time you stay in Thailand in total during your entries. If you’ve stayed for 84 days in total during a six months period, even if it’s in four entries, I personally feel quite confident that you’ll still will be allowed to enter tomorrow as a regular tourist in Thailand. Be prepared to answer any questions and show your onward ticket.

If you plan to do a similar trip in the future I would applied for a six months multiple entries tourist visa at the embassy at home before I left. Then you just can come and go as you wish within this six months period. (and even stay for up to nine months in Thailand).

Thank you for your response and information 🙏. I didn’t think I would fall in love with Thailand like I have done otherwise I would have definitely done this.

Thanks, As I felt quite confident about. Happy on your behalf. Enjoy your stay. 🤗

No one can answer that because it's up to the immigration officer you are standing in front of. They will look at your history and decide if you seem like a genuine tourist following tourist patterns. If not then they will pull you out of line and question you.
