Hi i just wanted to know if i will get refused entry back to Thailand. I have been here for 60 days and extended another 30. I am going to Penang for ten days. Will i be let beck in on a tourist visa for another 30 days. Any advise is much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Answer summary
The question discusses the possibility of being refused re-entry into Thailand after a recent 90-day stay, with additional travel to Penang. Answers emphasize that re-entry may depend on the immigration officer's discretion, the traveler's history, and specific entry requirements. Some suggest applying for a tourist visa directly for longer stays to minimize risks, while others clarify misconceptions about the types of visas and entry extensions available. The overall consensus indicates that, while possible, re-entry can hinge on many factors and may require careful consideration of prior stay lengths.

Also you entered for 60-days VISA EXEMPT. ie no Visa.

there is no official rule, you can enter visa exempt, get stamped in for 60 days, then you can extend for 30 days. But if you enter visa-exempt a second time, you can only get a 7-days extension. This sums up to an inofficial limit of 157 days within a one-year period on visa-exempt entries. This is the NEW APPROACH of Immigration towards people who try to milk the visa-exemption system. You will be pulled aside and you risk refusal of entry if you try many visa-exempt entries within a one-year period

If that is the extent of your Thailand time…. You will have zero issues. You get 60 days visa exempt.

If you have a dodgy history, expect some questioning at least.

If really dodgy, get fasttrack from an agency

The most safe way would be that you apply for the 60 days tourist visa . But I am not sure if you can do that only from you home country . The way you want to do is a gamble these days . Until now it’s still 60 days free visa entry . It depends on your situation and the emigration officer

Michael Hoevel Does anyone know how they define your "home" country? I've lived in the Philippines for 30 years and have permanent residence status here. My nationality derives from a country in Europe, but I haven't been there for many years. Do they really expect me to fly across the world just to apply for a visa to go to Thailand?

Michael Hoevel it's visa-free not free visa

Ralph Tyson he means he is entering visa-exempt. He thinks that a visa exempt entry will grant him a visa, he is wrong and so are you

Ralph Tyson he is more likely entering on visa exemption but doesn’t know the difference

Let me consult my crystal ball 😤

EVERY entry to Thailand is at the discretion of the Immigration officer you are dealing with on the day..

Based on your recent travel history make sure you comply with all the entry requirements..

Good luck 👍

BazaarAsia57 Brent Rothsay and the tourism entry requirements are :

- proof of accommodation for at least your first few nights (hotel booking or a letter of invite from a Thai)

- proof of onward travel (international travel ticket leaving Thailand within your initial entry stamp exit by date)

- proof of funds (20,000 Baht or equivalent in any major currency in CASH per individual, or 40,000 for a family)

plus now, of course, the TDAC

That will likely depend on whether you have prior history of visiting Thailand in the last 12 to 18 months

Ron Georgi He'll get 60 days on re-entry but a 30 day extension will be very doubtful
