Question?

So, I plan on going to thalind for 6 months from usa next month.

What is the best option to staying that lit. Without a visa?

Can I leave the country and come right back before my 45 days are up?

Or is there another way?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're traveling to Thailand from the USA for 6 months without a visa, you can initially stay for 45 days and then extend your stay for an additional 30 days. To prolong your stay, you can exit and re-enter Thailand before your initial 45 days expire, but doing this multiple times can be uncertain. Alternatively, consider applying for a multiple entry tourist visa, which allows for 60 days per entry over a 6-month period, enabling a potential stay of nearly 9 months with careful timing.

With no visa you’d get 45 days and can extend that once for 30 days. You can rinse and repeat by leaving the country and coming back. You’d get to do that once with probably no issue. More than that is just a gamble. Perhaps they let you perhaps they wouldn’t.

You could look at getting the multiple entry tourist visa, which is valid for 6 months. On each entry you’d get 60 days. Timing things wisely you can get almost 9 months off of that visa.

you can’t extend two times off a visa exempt, only once.

If asked for proof of funds it would have to be cash. 20,000 baht or equivalent. Bank statements wouldn’t suffice. Rarely asked for unless you have a history or recent entries or Covid extensions.

Thanks sorry I mean we plan to go out of the country come in visa exempt 45 days and then extend 30 days and go out of the country and Isa exempt and extend again. The first time we hope to come back in the same day but the second time we’ll stay away 4 days or so.

Thanks we’ll make sure to have the cash in case. If it’s

@Jasmine *******
yes 40k for a family. I actually don’t know the definition they use for “family” if that includes adult “children”.

@Stuart ********
ok thanks for the helpful advice!

My guess would be that you’re traveling as a group and therefore you’re “family”.

We are going to Laos the first time and then will go for a holiday somewhere else the next time

Hi
@Stuart ********
. We entered with the STV in August and we found out last week we were unable to do our first extension, we need to do a border bounce. We are planning to do the visa exempt and extend two times to get to April when we return home. In regards to the 3 proofs that may be needed, can you show them bank statements if you have a Thai bank account? Or do you always need the cash? Thanks
