From a reply on another forum, can I just confirm that if I arrive with a non O-A visa before the expiry date of 17th November I will be stamped to stay for 12 months or until my insurance expires?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, if you arrive in Thailand with a Non O-A visa before the expiry date of November 17th, you will be granted a 12-month stay, provided you meet the insurance requirements.

There are 2 insurances required, the standard health insurance and the $50,000 covid(or not) insurance for all entrants. Or one policy if it fulfills both requirements.

@Wannikea ********
actually only one is needed if it covers both requirements of the OA visa.

Thanks. My UK (LV=) insurance runs out next June but it covers everything, inc. covid, for up to ยฃ10 million!

you need 2 certificates. One stating coverage for O-A visa and one for Covid coverage. The immigration officer checked both and stamped me in accordingly.

Mine covers both.

I'm sure I read that the USD 50k policy had to be with a Thai insurance company

Apparently that info was wrong and foreign insurance is ok.

@Ashley ********

hello. May I ask where one can acquire this foreign insurance document? Can you download it from some site? Or do you have to obtain it from the immigration office near your place of residence? Thank you in advance for your help. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

@James *******
yes, I've noticed that. Thanks James.

had to go get the OA visa issued. And now with changes October 1st the foreign insurance certificate can be used when obtaining an extension inside Thailand.

It is a UK insurance policy which was accepted last time.

A June stamp would be ok for this trip.

Just be sure to get a re-entry if you leave after that.

To be honest, after this trip I will be glad to let it go. At the moment I visit family for 6 or 7 weeks maybe 3 times a year and 60 day TR visas would be a lot better. Not bothered about the expense.

with back to back or many Tourist visas in your passport at some point you probably will be questioned upon arrival by Thai Immigration why you don't get the correct visa for your stay in Thailand?

The OA visa and extension is ideal for you.

@Ashley ********
frankly many expats choose to obtain an OA visa yearly or every two years... Rather than meet the financial requirements of it when in Thailand.

I'll get this trip out the way and then see what's available for my next one. I have to be back in the UK in January anyway this time.
Benjamin ******
That is correct. Assuming, of course, the "visa" is the sticker in your passport that says "Non-OA visa".

Thanks and, yes, this is the actual visa.
