Will going through immigration in Bangkok affect my non immigrant B visa application in Laos?

Hi, I have a question about the non immigrant B visa. I have to go to Laos to apply for the visa as the embassy where I live would take too long. But the flights from here go via Bangkok anyway as there is no direct flight to Laos.

I was planning on flying into Bangkok for 1 night so I could leave my luggage there, then fly on to Laos the next day to go do my visa.

My question is, if I go through immigration in Bangkok for the night (I'm South African so I'd do the visa on arrival) Would that now affect my application for the non immigrant B visa in Laos? Should I not go through immigration?

 yes sure, check out this link. I applied on Friday morning and I was able to collect it on Tuesday morning.

 there's no "views" to have. Just like the multiple entry tourist visa, an OA retirement visa can only be obtained from your home country or a country you have permanent residence in.

A non-O retirement visa can be obtained in other countries or in Thailand.

 Can British passport holders still apply for a visa in Savanakhet and are AO visas easy to get ?

SA passport holders can only apply in Vientiane. You cannot apply for any visa in Savannakhet.

You need an appointment to apply in Vientiane for a visa.

South Africans do not get visa on arrival, they get visa exempt. This shouldn't affect your plans at all.
