Question: SETV, just got 30 day extension. Valid till first week of Jan 2020.

If one does a border run on Dec 31st (2nd of the year) will this is any way affect the decision of the border officials for a run in Feb 2020? Will they notice a last day of the year run from the previous year and act difficult?

Never had any overstays on file.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is concerned about the potential impact of completing a border run on December 31, 2019, on their immigration status when applying for future visa runs in early 2020. Although they have never overstayed their visa, they have questions regarding how immigration officials might view their history of border runs and the implications of timing when trying to maximize their stay in Thailand.

Why not put some of your energy and time to find a visa which allows you to stay for the period you like to live inside Thailand rather than keep on asking if you might be in the future got questions from an Immigration Officer. We can not even tell you what and which immigration officer will say to his first customer on all those border checkpoints and airports.

Yes, it will. The visa exempt entry is supposed to be used for people who spent their holiday inside Thailand. Not to live and work for minimum 8 months in Thailand.

So timed right one can do eight months - 2 border runs + extensions and then repeat. But like I asked will this cause any issues if it’s limited to this?

on the 31st you can do a border which will be counted as 2nd for 2019. You than have two more in 2020.

you are allowed to make two border runs and using the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry a calendar year. Officials do look at your total history of living and staying inside Thailand, not only to the date of your last stamp.
