I'm sorry if this is a repeat question but I've been looking and can't seem to find an answer any where. I have a question about the border run to Mae sai. It says that you can make a land border run twice a year but does that year start when you first enter Thailand or is it in a calendar year (starting on Jan. 1st). I made a run in December (2018) and in February (2019). My question is can I do another border run in April? Thank you in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired whether the timeline for making border runs to Mae Sai is based on their initial entry date into Thailand or on a calendar year basis. Responses clarified that Thai immigration rules allow two 30-day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year, defined from January 1 to December 31. Thus, if the user made one entry in February 2019, they are permitted to make one more border run within the same calendar year, meaning they can indeed make another border run in April.
For the crossing in Mae sai. Is that the border that you need a online reservation. Or can you just take a bus cross over and pay 500 baht and then come back? For 30 days? Thanks for any help.
You never need an on-line reservation to cross a border. You visit the border crossing during their opening hours, stamp out Thailand, go to neighbor country, stamp in. If you like to come straight back, stamp out and stamp in Thailand again. Depending on passport you can get the 30 days Visa Exempt Entry but with a maximum of 2 times a calendar year. In Mea Sai you pay 500 Thb for a daypass to Myanmar.
i just flew back from the US about a week ago. no problem at BKK. but, I was in a wheelchair. immigration and customs and anywhere just let me thru. i did need the wheelchair, tho. nothing illegal, ever. jb
land border just in case you fly into Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueng and they deny entry. That way you can book a flight to Lao or Cambodia and come in via land border
